Unoccupancy Conditions Awareness

We appreciate that due to the lock down you may have had to temporarily leave your business premises for an unknown period of time.

Generally, this means that you must disclose this to your insurers as a material fact and comply with the specific unoccupancy conditions detailed in your policy wording. Each insurers’ policy varies but the unoccupied period is usually 30 consecutive days prior to these conditions applying. Insurers may also restrict cover if the property has been empty for this period of time.

Fortunately, given the current situation surrounding COVID-19, the majority of insurers have agreed to extend their unoccupancy period and have agreed to provide full cover up to 60 or 90 days.

If you have had to temporarily leave your premises and you have any questions regarding your Unoccupancy condition, please contact your Account Handler or call us on 020 8658 4334.
